Cole Hauser Admits He Never Saw the Rip & Beth Obsession Coming

7 Years Later, He Still Can't Believe It.

Cole Hauser Says He Never Expected Rip & Beth to Become the Show

I keep thinking about the first time we saw Rip and Beth together on screen. That instant oh, they’re going to wreck my life feeling. I assumed the actors knew they were making TV history, but apparently, Cole Hauser was just as clueless as the rest of us.

He recently admitted he had no idea their relationship would become the entire pulse of Yellowstone. That’s wild. We’re out here buying “Ride for the Brand” shirts and debating whether we’re more Beth or Monica, and the man himself is just now realizing he’s a cultural icon.

He was in NYC recently and said he’d be lying if he claimed he saw the mania coming. Seven years playing the toughest man on TV, and he’s still surprised that people are obsessed. What seems to hit him most is the Halloween stuff. Imagine being Cole Hauser and seeing a sea of guys in black hats and fake scars every October. He talked about meeting a kid dressed exactly like Rip Wheeler — shades, jacket, the whole look—and it clearly hit him differently.

At some point, it stops being a job.

It becomes this strange, collective agreement that Rip and Beth Dutton are the couple.

And let’s talk about that ending. We’re all sitting here biting our nails because the show is wrapping up, and Kelly Reilly is talking about ‘laying it all out there’ for these last episodes. It feels like a breakup I’m not ready for. You can tell they feel the weight of it. When they were filming those final scenes, they were just soaking it in, knowing the end was close. It makes my heart ache a little, thinking about the ranch without them.

But the rumors are already moving. Talk of a new series centered just on Rip and Beth. And honestly? Of course there is. I don’t care if it’s just them sitting on a porch for an hour; I’m watching.

Cole might still be processing the fact that he’s everyone’s favorite TV husband, but for us, it was never a question. Their chemistry isn’t something you can just fake or plan for. It just happened. And whether they ride off into the sunset or things go south in the finale, I’m just glad we got to be part of the madness. If those spin-off talks are real—and let’s pray they are—maybe he’ll finally get used to the fact that we aren’t going anywhere.
